Orion Industries is a Ray of Hope Too

I lost my housing due to a family disagreement. I moved out into the byways along the river in a tent. At that point I lost everything I had. I fought hard to find a job, and found one with Orion. I set my alarm for 3:45 AM so that I could get up and walk to work and arrive on time. It was hard living out in the tent. I never felt clean at work.

One day, I asked for help, and they recommended the Ray of Hope and the Sundown Shelter. This has been a lifesaver! I didn’t want to stay out living in my tent. I slept with one eye open every night, worried about who was going to find me and where I would have to move to next. People don’t realize that once you’re out here it feels like there is no hope for you any longer. You feel like there’s no one who will listen, no one who will take you in, no job that will ever give you the time of day. That was no way to live but I had no idea what else to do.

Getting a job is going to help me earn some money so I could save it and try to get into an apartment on my own, but the cost of living is so high I still wasn’t gonna make it without a $25 an hour job and I certainly wasn’t going to get that quick.

At least by being inside the shelters, I’m safe, warm, fed and I’m making new friends I call family. The shelters have saved my life!
